On Sept. 10-12, more than 210 HGEA delegates gathered at the Sheraton Waikiki for the 28th Biennial General Assembly.
Speakers didn’t shy away from hard truths, driving home why this year’s theme, “Fighting Back Today for Hawaii’s Tomorrow,” matters more than ever.
“We’re being driven into the ground by rising costs on everything, and unless we stand up for democracy and our right as workers, we will soon see much of what we have taken for granted slip away,” said HGEA Executive Director Randy Perreira in his state of the union address.
The takeaway? We can’t be apathetic or silent. Unions were forged in the fight for labor rights and the wellbeing of working families. This moment calls for us to stand with each other and take action.
