Contract negotiations update: March 5, 2020
January 01, 0001
House and Senate bills which include the funding for HGEA bargaining unit pay raises continue to move through the State Legislature. Funding bills in both houses (House of Representatives and the Senate) for Units 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, and 13, who have all reached a voluntary settlement, have moved through their respective houses without any opposition and will now cross over to the House or Senate respectively.
Funding bills for Unit 14 are also making its way through the legislature. Unit 14 is currently waiting for a decision from an arbitration panel. We expect a decision in April so the appropriate monies for any Unit 14 pay increases can be included in these bills and be approved during this legislative session.
HGEA has been pushing for the quick passage of the bills at the legislature and we will continue to monitor this important priority at the state legislature as well as the county councils. Once funding has been approved by all the legislative bodies, we’re advocating that any retroactive pay increases that were effective July 1, 2019 be paid out as soon as possible. We will keep you updated through eBulletin.
