Fighting for Temporary Hazard Pay

April 23, 2020

HGEA is fighting for temporary hazard pay for all affected employees in all jurisdictions statewide who have been designated to perform essential functions — workers on the frontlines who continue to have contact with the public and are at heightened risk of being exposed to or getting COVID-19 or workers who are being required to report to work. If our requests for temporary hazard pay are denied, we are moving forward with filing grievances.

In addition, we have asked the employers to provide our members with proper personal protective equipment. In the wake of this worldwide pandemic, these public workers need to be provided a safe working environment. AFSCME is also fighting for PPE on the national level. Click here to send a letter to the White House telling the president to get you the equipment you need.
