Deployment of State Workforce
April 06, 2020
HGEA was informed over the weekend that the State is working on a plan to deploy employees who are currently on administrative leave and not able to telework to areas that need assistance and people-power.
Some departments, for example the State Department of Labor and Industrial Relations (DLIR), need additional help to meet heavy workloads. The plan is intended to provide support where needed. At this time, we are told that the State Department of Human Resources Development (DHRD) is gathering requests for assistance from departments. From the initial information received, tasks being assigned should not involve public contact. Adequate training will be provided and safety measures including social distancing will be enforced.
We anticipate receiving a draft plan soon and will pass along details once received and analyzed. Please note that in this and any other action the State intends to take, HGEA will first and foremost work to ensure that employees are not exposed to greater risk and that employee health and safety remain the top priority.
