Legislative Update: April 25, 2019

We’re pleased to report that two of HGEA’s priority bills were passed out of the Conference Committees this week -- S.B. 1192, which contains the EUTF appropriation for all HGEA units and H.B. 845, which requires employee orientation for new hires. Deadlines to reach agreement and finalize all other bills are today, Thursday, April 25 for Non-fiscal Final Decking and tomorrow, Friday, April 26 for Fiscal Final Decking.We continue to monitor the status of priority and interest legislation including S.B. 1498 (requires the Hawaii Labor Relations Board to determine qualifications for grievance arbitrators), H.B. 1539 (consolidation of Hawaii Health Systems Corporation Oahu Region) and S.B. 785 & H.B. 393 (relating to EUTF funding and conflicts of interest). The regular Legislative Session of 2019 will formally close on May 2, 2019.
