Legislative update: February 15, 2018
February 15, 2018
Tomorrow, Friday, February 16 is an important deadline at the State Legislature. As you know, nearly 6,000 bills were introduced this biennium and each bill was given a committee referral, depending on the content of the measure. Friday is the First Lateral deadline, where all bills in the House of Representatives and the Senate with more than one committee referral must be in their final committee (for example, a house bill with a House Labor Committee and House Finance Committee referral, must have passed out of the Labor Committee to be considered “alive”).
We are pleased to report that there are no measures this Session that would adversely impact your retirement, pension, health benefits, or reimbursements. We have expended a lot of energy to educate Legislators on why these types of takeaway bills are so harmful for our members.
