WEDNESDAY: Support funding for Unit 14 arbitration award

May 08, 2016

On Wednesday, May 11, the Maui County Council will hear measure BF-6 (cost proposal for Unit 14 members) at 9 a.m. Please consider testifying on behalf of your fellow HGEA members — your support is critical!

Testify in person
Public testimony will be taken at 9 a.m. at the Maui County building, 8th floor, council chambers. Click here to view Wednesday's Budget & Finance Committee agenda which includes times and multiple locations where live testimony will be accepted.

No time to testify in person? Don't worry, submitting testimony online is fast and easy. A quick email urging funding for the Unit 14 arbitration award can be sent in just a few minutes — remember to mention you're supporting Unit 14 members who help keep our communities safe. Some sample talking points include:

  • We support safe beaches and paying Ocean Safety Officers a decent and fair salary.
  • Ocean Safety Officers risk their lives to keep our beaches safe, we are asking the Maui County Council to fund a final and binding arbitration award.
  • Fully fund the final and binding arbitration award for HGEA Unit 14 members, Ocean Safety and State Law Enforcement Officers, who dedicate their careers to keeping the public and visitors safe.

Submit testimony via email
Written testimony can be submitted to the Maui County Councilmembers via http://mauicounty.us/councilmembers/ or emailed directly to the Budget & Finance Committee at bf.committee@mauicounty.us.

Note: Written testimony should be submitted by 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2016.
