If malicious actors want to wreak havoc at our airports, they’ll have to go through Deputy Sheriff Robert Umiamaka and his K-9 Lexy first. A Unit 14 member and a director on HGEA’s Board of Directors, he’s been protecting the public for more than a decade.
After starting as a corrections officer, Umiamaka later became a deputy sheriff in the K-9 division at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport. He leads complex safety operations while training the next generation of canine officers alongside his K-9 partner Lexy. Together, their bravery and dedication ensures narcotics, bombs and other dangerous contraband are found before they can cause harm.
Mahalo for all that you do, Robert and Lexy!
