For those of you who wanted to take the first round of Basic Steward Academy but could not make your schedule work, fear not!  We are running it back to catch you up to speed.  These classes are open to any HGEA member in good standing interested in learning more about their rights.

Join us for three Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. for hands-on, interactive training designed for both new and seasoned stewards. Build a solid foundation in your rights as a union member, how to activate your worksite, and improve communication. From learning key points of your contract to what resources will help you address issues at your office, this course gives you everything you need to lead with confidence. Basic steward academy also empowers you to interact with experienced stewards and HGEA staff to answer questions you may have and address them collaboratively.  Zoom link provided closer to steward academy date.

Course Schedule:

• Welcome Class + I’m A Steward, Now What – Tuesday, July 14 at 5:30 p.m.
  Introduction to rights of stewards, common problems that arise at work, available resources, and Q&A with experienced stewards and staff.
• “We Need Our Steward!”: Problem Solving at Work – Tuesday, July 21 at 5:30 p.m.
  A deeper dive into tools for addressing problems at work, a general overview of your rights under the contract, and best practices for communicating with your office.
• Stewards Leading the Way – Tuesday, July 28 at 5:30 p.m.
  An overview of commonly used contract articles, sharing your Union Story, and overview of Advanced Academy topics, should you choose to enroll.
