  • DTRIC Insurance

DTRIC has a long history with HGEA. In fact, the insurance company was established in 1992 to help HGEA members secure auto insurance coverage at a time when most insurers were reluctant to offer it in Hawaii due to rising claims costs and strict regulations created by the state’s no-fault law. DTRIC Insurance stepped in to provide a group auto insurance program for the state’s largest public employee union and we have enjoyed our relationship with them since.

That said, they have made the decision to transition to a run-off insurance carrier. This means they will no longer be issuing new policies. However, if you have an HGEA policy with DTRIC, your policy will be renewed until 2027 when DTRIC will start the process of not renewing your policy as part of this transition.

They will continue to administer active policies, manage claims, and fully meet their contractual and statutory obligations.

DTRIC will maintain operation for at least the next several years with appropriate governance and oversight in place to ensure policyholder protection.

If you have any questions, please call (808) 944-0775 or toll-free at 1 (877) 944-0775.

    • Access to legal representation for on-the-job civil and criminal action. This representation is administered through the PORAC Legal Defense Fund. PORAC is the largest and most successful legal defense fund in the country and is managed by public safety officers for public safety officers.
    • Million dollar coverage for a few dollars. There is no cap on benefits. Whether the case costs $100,000 to defend or $1,000,000, the legal defense fund keeps its long-standing promise of never skimping when your life is on the line.
